Heather Staines is Director of Partnerships at Hypothes.is. Recently, she was Director, Publisher and Content Strategy at ProQuest, where she served as liaison for Discovery Services and Course Materials. Previously, she was Vice President of Publisher Development and Content Strategy at SIPX, Inc. (formerly the Stanford Intellectual Property Exchange) where she built a community of publishers from different market segments to explore possible collaborations around content rights and contextual licensing. Prior to SIPX, Heather was Senior Manager eOperations and Global eProduct Manager for SpringerLink at Springer Science + Business Media. She began her publishing career as a book acquisitions editor at Greenwood Publishing Group/Praeger Publishers, where she was eventually Editorial Director for Praeger Security International, a multi-format imprint. She enjoys volunteering for professional organizations such as the Society for Scholarly Publishing, for which she is currently a Board Member; the American Library Association, where she chairs the ALCTS CRS Education, Research, and Publications Coordinating Committee; the STM Association's Futurelab; and Project Transfer, now a Standing Committee of NISO. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University in Military and Diplomatic History.
