Biography
Dr Eleftherios Karapatzak is an agronomist with an Msc in Horticulture and a PhD in plant physiology and reproduction specializing in fruit crop physiology and reproduction with supplementary training in biometrics and quantitative methods in plant science. He has worked in research projects as an external research associate at the Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources, Hellenic Agricultural Organization Demeter, Thessaloniki, Greece (IPBGR, HAO Demeter). Early career researcher with a developing publication record on plant eco-physiology, reproduction, and ecology in a range of plant species (small fruit crops and native species). Has extensive academic/teaching experience (>10 years) in plant physiology and morphology at undergraduate level at the School of Agricultural Biotechnology and Oenology, International Hellenic University (IHU), Greece, coupled with student tutoring and supervision in a plethora of dissertation projects. In addition, he has extensive industry experience and a developing track record of contributions at national and international scientific conferences. Current research interests include the domestication of native plant species for sustainable utilization, study of plant – environment interactions affecting plant growth, reproduction and plant secondary metabolism in terms of crop quality under the current climate change.
