Biography

In december 2013 I have started a PhD research about Finite Element (FE) model updating with IR thermography. The goal of this research is to develop a time efficient algorithm to update a FE model with NDT data and to improve active thermography measurements with the aid of a validated FE model. There will be looked after a methodology to improve the quality of the thermographic measurements with the aid of FE modeling.

The main goal is to develop a technique that updates the material and geometrical properties of a FE model from a specific structure to the real state by using thermographical measurements as optimization input. This results in an expanded use of FE models in the maintainance of structures, for example: worst case scenario simulations with the actual conditions of the structure, periodic maintainance planning, life cycle calculation, etc.

The application area could be seen as the full area where thermograpical measurements are used (electronics industry, aerospace-industry, automotive-industry, large steel structures, etc.).
