Biography
Judite A. Gonçalves de Freitas is a full professor, PhD in History and also PhD in Political Science. She started his scientific research activity in 1989. The master's thesis is entitled: The Bureaucracy of the "Eloquent" (1433-1439). The texts, the norms, the people (1991) and the doctoral thesis entitled: "Teemos por bem e mandamos". The Royal Bureaucracy and its officiers in the mid-14th century (1439-1460), 2 vols., Cascais: Edições Patrimonia, 2001. These two original research thesis were published by a discerning and specialised editor. Her PhD thesis in Political Science is entitled: "The Council of State in the Ancien Regime and in Liberalism. Portugal, Spain and France" has also been published by a national publisher. The dissemination of her original research works were a model for thesis projects both nationally and internationally, ex. CAÑAS GÁLVEZ, Francisco de Paula - La Burocracia Regia durante el Reinado de Juan II de Castilla: estudio prosopográfico e itinerario. Universidad Complutense - Madrid. She has an extensive research on political power, political theory, political institutions and processes, public governance bodies and bureaucracy, comparative political studies and political elites (prosopography), in which she has published dozens of articles in scientific journals and ten books. She coordinates the research group on Political and Humanitarian Studies at Research Centre for the study of Population, Economy and Society - CEPESE, and she is a member of the Portuguese Institute of International Relations of the NOVA University of Lisbon. She was a guest lecturer at International Conferences in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, England, Italy, France under different international projects. She has wide experience in coordinating graduate and postgraduate studies (since 2000). Professor of State Theory and Administration, Comparative Contemporary Political Systems, Political History and International Relations, Planning and presentation of thesis projects in the 1st and 3rd cycle of studies. Her current research interests include Comparative politics, State bodies, Public administration and Bureaucracy, Political institutions and processes. Supervisor of doctoral theses in the field of political science, namely comparative political systems, political theory, organs of state, bureaucracy and public management. Guest lecturer at the University of São Paulo (Brazil), Complutense University of Madrid, New University of Lisbon, University of Zaragoza, Sorbonne University inter alia. Coordinator of the PhD programme in Political and Humanitarian Studies - Faculty of Human and Social Sciences / Fernando Pessoa University since 2019. Scientific coordinator and author of several entries in the DICTIONARY OF POLITICAL SCIENCE AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, Coimbra: Almedina, 2022. Scientific committee and peer reviewer for the following Scopus-indexed journals: Sustainability; Biblos; Social Sciences.
