Biography

Dr Samson Haumba is a recognized leader in improving healthcare and strengthening health systems to deliver better, equitable and sustainable outcomes. Dr Haumba is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Georgetown University (GU) School of medicine, a Senior Public Health Advisor at the Georgetown University Centre for Global Health Practice and Impact (GU-CGHPI) and the Country Resident Director at Georgetown Global Health (GGH) Office in Eswatini. For 4 years, he has successfully led two large Georgetown University grants funded by PEPFAR on scaling up and consolidating HIV and tuberculosis care, treatment, prevention and epidemic control efforts in Eswatini and participated in vital generating implementation science and research evidence. For 14 years, Dr Haumba led HIV, Tuberculosis, Healthcare quality improvement, and laboratory quality management grants in Eswatini and Uganda. Dr Haumba's research focus spans health services improvement, infectious disease management and control (especially multi-drug-resistant tuberculosis), integration of non communicable diseases in HIV, TB and primary health care settings, strengthening health systems, diagnostics and laboratory quality management systems and health innovations and technology adaptation and adoption. His findings from research have informed health policy and practice at national and regional level. Dr Haumba holds a Medical Degree, master’s degrees in public health and internal medicine, and Doctoral degree in Health studies.
