Biography

Dr. Waller taught ecology, evolution, and conservation biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as the J.T. Curtis Professor of Botany and Environmental Studies. His 20 book chapters and 189 papers are available at his ResearchGate site. His honors include being a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Palme Academique Award from France, and serving as Editor-in-Chief of Evolution and President of the Society for the Study of Evolution. He continues to apply his expertise to improve forest, wildlife, and habitat management. Dr. Waller co-authored Wild Forests: Conservation Biology and Public Policy (Island Press 1994) and edited The Vanishing Present: Shifts in Wisconsin’s Lands, Waters, and Wildlife (Univ. of Chicago Press 2008).
