Biography

Cristina Sin is an Assistant Professor at Lusófona University in Porto and a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development (CeiED). She was awarded a PhD in Educational Research from Lancaster University (UK) in 2012. Before her current employment, she worked as a researcher at the Portuguese Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) for 5 years and as a post-doctoral researcher at the Centre for Research in Higher Education Policies (CIPES), Portugal, for another 5 years. She began her career in higher education at the Higher Education Academy in the UK, already before her PhD, where she managed projects on teaching and learning improvement in higher education. She also worked as a research assistant at Lancaster University.

She has developed her research in the field of higher education policies, moving from a more general study of European higher education policies and their implementation (Bologna Process) to specific topics such as employability, quality assurance, inbreeding and international student mobility. International student mobility is her main interest area and she was the Principal Investigator (PI) in a research project, funded by the Edulog Foundation on international students in Portugal. She is an active member of the Network on International Student Mobility (COST Action CA20115), currently leading the execution of two deliverables: a systematic review on the impact of Covid-19 on the integration of international students and a systematic review on global trends and patterns in ISM. She was a member of the team of researchers commissioned to evaluate the Erasmus+ programme 2014-2020 in Portugal, by the Erasmus+ National Agency.

She has co-edited 4 international books related to higher education policies, co-authored one book and published extensively in reputed international peer-reviewed journals in the area of higher education, most of them indexed in Scopus and/or WoS.
