Biography

I started my career as a teacher of English, languages and humanities subjects at secondary school level in Australia. Returning to study to complete an MA in Linguistics in Brussels, I then branched out into programming languages, before undertaking a PhD examining the utility of gamification to motivate learning, particularly in distributed online environments. Now, in Ireland, I work with academics on academic practice and assisting the transition to teaching online, ensuring the student is always at the centre of teaching and learning decisions. I am interested in authentic assessments, curriculum development and the development of standards.
