Biography

Petr Petřík is in his research generally aiming at vegetation ecology, species composition and distribution of species. Namely, he is focusing on the classification and recent changes of forest vegetation of Central Europe and Southeastern Asia (especially South Korea), invasive biology of ornamental plants (especially in abandoned settlements), seasonal changes of arid grass vegetation, regional floristics (especially northern Bohemia), and popularization of botany (editor-in-chief of the Botanika journal). He is active in the field of nature and landscape protection as coordinator of scientific platform on integration of sustainable landscape management (nasekrajina.eu). He studied Biology and Geobotany at the Charles University in Prague (MSc. 2000), and obtained there PhD degree (2006) on grid mapping approach in botany. Since 2000, he has been employed as researcher at the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences, first at the Dept. of Geobotany, second at the Dept. of GIS and RS and last, at the Dept. of Vegetation Ecology.
