Has international reputation for studying plant-microbe interactions in fundamental and applied aspects. This includes the signal interactions between plants and organisms, partners metabolic interactions and development of novel cellular and tissue structures. The investigation of plant-microbe interactions is of basic importance for understanding the plant development, metabolism and adaptive potential. It also has a strong interdisciplinary orientation and the important connections to neighboring disciplines such as plant genetics, microbiology, plant protection and phytopathology. The research is tightly connected to the construction of novel plant-microbial systems for sustainable agriculture and to the production of microbial inoculants for plant nutrition and biocontrol of pests.
