Biography

Dr of Art History – Museologist, Senior Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, & Member of the Centre of Pedagogical Research and Praxis – CPRP, School of Primary Education, Faculty of Education, AUTH
She studied History and Archaeology, specialising in Art History at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece (AUTH). Continued with postgraduate studies in Art History & Theory at the Universities of Cambridge (Certificate & Diploma in Art History, 1991 & 1993) and Essex (MA in Art History and Theory, 1994) and obtained her PhD in Art History & Theory in 2000 (AUTH). Worked at post-doctoral level in art/museum education and received the PGD in Museum studies in 2001 from the University of Leicester. In December 2006 attended the Foundation Course successfully in Art Therapy (BAAT, London).
She has worked in art museums in England and Greece and since 2000, before coming to the Faculty of Education, held academic posts at universities in Greece and abroad. She has contributed to Greek and International Conferences, and she is publishing in the areas of Art History and Theory, Multicultural Education and Art, Museum Education and Learning through the arts.
Her research-teaching fields are: History of Art, Learning through the arts, Arts Education and Cultural-Museum Education. Her current research projects include Visual Art Education and Sustainable Development, Intergenerational Learning and teaching through the arts.
