She graduated as a medical doctor (MD) in 2005 and received her doctorate (PhD) degree in medicine and immunology in 2009 from the Medical University in Lodz, Poland working on genetics and immunology of severe asthma with Prof. Rafał Pawliczak. She performed her postdoctoral studies at the Critical Care Medicine Department (CCMD), Clinical Center, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, US in 2010-2014 with Dr. James Shelhamer studying inflammasome and lipid signaling in asthma, and the SIAF UZH in 2014-2017 with Prof. Cezmi Akdis on mulitiomics of immune tolerance in allergy and asthma. She obtained her board certification in Internal Medicine in 2021 and habilitation in Immunology, Allergology and Pulmonology (Privatdozent, PD) from the University of Zurich in 2022.
Her current research encompasses involvement of immunometabolism, respiratory viruses and microbiome in immune tolerance and in the pathogenesis of allergic, pulmonary and autoimmune diseases. She authored and co-authored more than 100 scientific publications in international journals, including Immunity, Nature Communications, Mucosal Immunology, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Journal of Immunology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Allergy and others. She also contributed to several textbooks in allergy, immunology and molecular biology.
She is an Executive Board Member-at-Large of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), where she previously served as Chair of the Basic and Clinical Immunology Section. She also leads several task forces within EAACI, contributing to international guidelines and position papers.
