Biography
Manuel F. Silva graduated, received MSc and PhD. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal, in 1997 and 2005, respectively.
Presently, he is Coordinator Professor at the Institute of Engineering of the Porto Polytechnic, Department of Electrical Engineering, and Senior Researcher at the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) of INESC TEC. Additionally, he is a Trustee of the CLAWAR Association Ltd. and was a former President of the Portuguese Robotics Society.
He has been involved in several R&D projects, mainly in robotics and industrial applications of robotics, and lately he has assumed the responsibility for some of these.
He has authored more than 150 papers in international journals and conferences with peer revision, has edited twelve books and six special issues of international journals and has been involved in the organization of several national and international conferences.
His current research focuses on modelling, simulation, robotics, mobile robots, industrial applications of robots, biological inspired robots and education in engineering and robotics.
