1991-2007 - head of Entomology laboratory of St. Petersburg State University
Since 2007 until now – head of Insect Biopharmacology and Immunology Laboratory of St. Petersburg State University
Since 2004 until now – president and founder of Allopharm ltd (St.Petersburg, Russia)
Main field of current research activity:
Drug discovery and development based on the study of insect immune system
Main achievements in the field of drug discovery and development:
-discovery of over 30 novel peptides with antimicrobial, immunomodulatory and anti-tumor activities
-discovery of mammalian NK cell analogs in insects and their use as a source of pharmacologically active peptides
-discovery, structural characterization and preclinical study of antimicrobial complex preventing antibiotic resistance development in bacteria
-discovery, development, registration and implementation to Medicine of alloferon, novel immunomodulatory antiviral drug
-discovery of allostatins, hybrid molecules combining structural characteristics of insect and human immunologically relevant peptides; demonstration of allostatins’ prospects as potential anti-tumor and antiviral drugs
-establishment of Allopharm ltd, a company contributing knowledge of insect immunity to drug discovery
