Biography
Dr. Edmond Ma obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1987 and Doctor of Medicine degree in 2004. Dr. Ma is a specialist in Haematology and is currently the Director of Clinical and Molecular Pathology at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital. He is Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Pathology, The University of Hong Kong; and Clinical Associate Professor (Honorary) at the Department of Anatomical & Cellular Pathology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His clinical and research effort is focused on the application of genetics and genomics to advance personalised medical care. Dr. Ma is the Chairman of the Children’s Thalassaemia Foundation and the Chairman of the Working Party on Medical Genetics of Hong Kong Accreditation Service. He was past Vice-President and Chief Examiner in Haematology of the Hong Kong College of Pathologists, and Councilor of the International Society of Laboratory Haematology from 2014 to 2019. Dr Ma is an International Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathology, a Founding Fellow of the Faculty of Science, The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, and an Affiliate Member of both the College of American Pathologists and the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
