Biography
Gary Wingenbach, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications and a Senior Scientist in the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture at Texas A&M University. Wingenbach has 30+ years of experience in agricultural and extension education, and human resource development. He specializes in social science research, community engagement, and program evaluation. Wingenbach’s research focuses on transformational learning, technology transfer, and community development. Wingenbach has mentored >150 students and 35 junior faculty in producing >450 publications. Wingenbach provides service to the university, profession, and government, such as serving as editor for scientific journals and reviewer for USDA competitive grant programs. Wingenbach was a bilingual (Spanish) educator for the US-EPA, USDA-FAS, and the U.S. Department of Labor. He served as program evaluator in Bangladesh, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Kenya, Malawi, Mexico, Namibia, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda, Timor-Leste, and the United States of America. Wingenbach acquired and successfully administered >40 funded projects totaling >$4.9 million.
