Biography
Full Professor at the School of Psychology, Universidad Católica del Norte, Chile, and a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in psychotherapy for adults and couples. With over 20 years of experience in undergraduate education and 15 years in postgraduate teaching, she has mentored master's and doctoral students, contributing significantly to the development of new professionals in the field.
Holds a Doctorate in Psychology from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has completed postgraduate diplomas in family and couple therapy, multivariate analysis, and human sexuality. Her research interests focus on adult attachment, couple relationships, and mental health. Currently she is the Principal Investigator of a FONDECYT-funded project examining attachment trajectories in romantic relationships during emerging adulthood. She has led several FONDECYT projects, including one on intimate partner violence among university students and another exploring attachment, minority stress, and relationship quality in same-sex couples in Chile. Her previous research also includes studies on minority stress in LGBTQ+ populations, emotional regulation in divorce adjustment, and dyadic coping and relationship satisfaction in couples.
Has authored numerous publications in national and international journals, focusing on adult attachment, relational dynamics, and mental health. In addition, she has held leadership roles such as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Director of the School of Psychology at Universidad Católica del Norte.
Continues to integrate teaching, research, and clinical expertise to contribute to the understanding of relational dynamics and mental health, shaping both academic and clinical approaches to these areas.
