Biography
I hold an international PhD in Language and Literature Teaching from the University of València (UV). Currently, I serve as a lecturer in Language and Literature Teaching at UV, where I specialise in teaching English and TEFL. Before my current position, I lectured on similar topics at Florida Universitària for 13 years. During my tenure there, I was an integral part of the active and discipline-based teaching methods (IMDAE) research group and served as its head for 2 academic years.
Prior to my academic career, I worked as a secondary school teacher for eleven years, during which time I led the Languages department and participated in various international Erasmus and Comenius projects. Additionally, I served as an examiner for both, the official B2 English and CLIL tests for teachers organised by the Valencian local authorities and the C1 and C2 certification of Valencian/Catalan carried out by Valencian universities (CIEACOVA).
My research interests are focused on writing skills, virtual exchanges/COIL, and challenge-based learning in pre-service teacher education. I have contributed to a UV project on high-cognitive demanding tasks and have acted as an external partner in the international Erasmus+ project E-LIVE, in collaboration with the University of Utrecht and Université Clermont-Auvergne. Additionally, I collaborated with colleagues at the Universitat Politècnica de València in a challenge-based learning innovative project.
Over the years, I have actively participated in more than 20 international conferences, presenting on various topics. Notably, I received the BESST Award at the Research School of EARLI for my doctoral research presentation on writing skills in L1 and EFL at SIG Writing 2018. I have also been involved in virtual exchanges in EFL and digital literacy and have presented at conferences such as UNICollaboration 2018, EVOLVE 2019, EuroCALL 2022, IVEC 2022, and Valiant 2024. Moreover, I am also interested in multilingual policies in primary, secondary, and higher education, as evidenced by my attendance and presentations at ICLHE 2015, Conselleria d'Educació 2016 and CIET 2022. Recently, I have explored active methods in higher education and presented at ICERI 2022, INTED 2023 and EDULEARN 2024.
I'm a regular reviewer for international conferences, journals and high-ranked publishers. I serve as editorial board member at the International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning. My most recent publications include the article "Exploring The Impact of Integrating a MOOC-VE Blend Within English Language Pre-Service Teacher Education" in the International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and "Padlet en la formación inicial docente como recurso para el aprendizaje colaborativo y la escritura en inglés" published by Edutec (https://doi.org/10.21556/edutec.2024.87.3103) and the chapter "Fostering language teachers’ intercultural awareness towards linguistic diversity and inclusion in education through COIL."
