Biography

Dr. Shuhei Yamamoto is conducting his research on the beetle superfamily Staphylinoidea as a researcher affiliated with the Hokkaido University Museum, Sapporo, Japan. His research interests are the systematics, paleontology, and natural history of Staphylinoidea, especially those for the tachyporine group of subfamilies (Staphylinidae). The research field is becoming broader annually, spanning taxonomy, phylogeny, paleontology, ecology, and even engineering (biomimetics). He received his Ph.D. degree in agricultural sciences in March 2017 from Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan. After receiving the Ph.D. degree, he spent about two and half years at the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago, USA, as the first postdoc experience.
