Biography
I deal with solving different scientific projects, leading the proteomic group, supervising students, and teaching students at universities (the University of Pardubice, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove, Faculty of Military Health Sciences, the University of Defence in Hradec Králové, and the University of Palacky in Olomouc).
Concerning my research experience, it includes mainly analyses of biological materials by mass spectrometry. I work with bacterial cells (e.g. study of virulence factors), cell lines (detection of the quantitative changes in their proteomes after internal or external treatments), or human clinical materials like a serum, tissues, and ascitic fluids (identification of proposed cancer protein markers). I am also able to detect proteins from different cell compartments (membrane or nuclear proteins) or secreted immunodominant, and post-translationally modified proteins. Last 5 years, I am highly interested in the detection of changes in the protein structure after interaction with ligands (small molecules, proteins, or nucleic acids). For this purpose, I use an advanced hydrogen/deuterium exchange technique connected with high-resolution mass spectrometry. This type of study of protein dynamics is provided only by two institutions in the Czech Republic.
