Biography

Fabio Pietrucci received a Ph.D in nanoscience and nanotechnology in 2006 at the University of Milano-Bicocca under the direction of Prof. Marco Bernasconi. During part of his graduate studies he joined the Computational Group of Prof. Michele Parrinello at ETH Zurich in Lugano. From 2006 to 2009 he has been a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Alessandro Laio at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste. From 2009 to 2014 he has been a researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL) in the group of Prof. Wanda Andreoni, first at CECAM and then at the Institute of Theoretical Physics. Since 2014 he holds an associate professor position (maître de conférences, HDR) at Sorbonne University of Paris. His current research interests include developing enhanced sampling, free-energy and kinetics calculation methods for classical and ab initio molecular dynamics, with applications in diverse domains such as phase transitions, nanoscience, chemical reactions in solution, and protein conformational dynamics.
