Biography
Dr Egle Butkeviciene is a full Professor and a Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Kaunas University of Technology. She is also a visiting professor at University of Central Florida (UCF). She gives lectures and conducts research on civil society issues, civic participation, social innovations, citizen science, social entrepreneurship, community development and social inclusion, environmental activism, social networks, and social impact of technologies.
Dr Egle Butkeviciene has been leading and participating in a number of international projects: 6th FP projects (e.g. “iCamp", "ICT for All”, CINEFOGO), other international projects (“ICT and Public Access: Investigating the social and economic impact of public access to information and communication technologies”, “Social partnerships and local social innovations in rural restructuring“, etc.). Currently she is a leader of KTU team in three H2020 projects: “Democratic Efficacy and the Varieties of Populism in Europe” (DEMOS), “Empowering Youth and Co-creating Social Innovations and Policy-Making Through Youth Citizen Social Science” (YOUCOUNT), and “Supporting Sustainable Institutional Changes to Promote Citizen Science in Science and Technology” (TIME4CS). She is also a national representative at MCs in 2 COST Actions: “Empowering the next generation of social enterprise scholars” and “Citizen Science to promote creativity, scientific literacy, and innovation throughout Europe”.
Dr Egle Butkeviciene is/was a governmental expert at the EC H2020 Programme Committee for Societal Challenge 6 'Europe in a changing world – Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies', a member of Horizon 2020 Advisory Group on NMBP (Leadership in Enabling and Industrial Technologies), an expert evaluator of H2020, 7th FP projects, an expert at the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education, Research Council of Lithuania, etc. She also has an experience in coordinating implementation of surveys with nationally representative samples (e.g. ISSP, www.issp.org) and is a member of ISSP Standing Committee. Together with Professor Thomas Bryer, she is responsible for editing a book series "Democratic Dilemmas and Policy Responsiveness", published by Lexington Books.
