Biography
Débora Dummer Meira began her academic training at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) where she studied Pharmacy (1998-2002) and completed a Specialization in Biochemistry (2002-2003). She completed his Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, 2003-2005) and his Doctorate in Nuclear Biosciences at the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) in partnership with the National Cancer Institute (INCA, 2005-2009) and Postdoctoral Studies at UERJ (2023-2024). After her PhD, she completed a short-term internship at the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS, Israel).
Dr. Débora stands out for her versatility and competence in several areas of science, in topics such as Bioprospecting for New Drugs, Oncology, Genetics, Oncogenetics, Bioinformatics, COVID-19/long COVID and Astrobiology, combined with solid experience in guiding more than 130 students throughout her academic career. Dr. Meira produced more than 140 publications, with more than 500 citations, indicating her continuous contribution to the world scientific community.
During her PhD, she specialized in Molecular Oncology/Oncogenetics, developing her research in "New Therapies for the Treatment of Cancer" and "Elucidation of the Genetic/Molecular Mechanisms of Resistance to New Antineoplastic Agents".
She was an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Pharmacy at EMESCAM, teaching the disciplines of Biotechnology and Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology and acting as Coordinator of the Post-Graduation Lato Sensu in Oncology at EMESCAM (2004-2013).
Since 2013, she has been an Assistant Professor and Researcher (40h DE) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) and develops research at the Nucleus of Human and Molecular Genetics (NGHM) in the areas of Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up in Oncology, Genetic Bases of Cancer, Human and Molecular Genetics, Bioinformatics/Applied Computational Biology in Prospecting New Therapeutic Targets and Technological Innovation in Oncology/Oncogenetics.
Currently, Dr. Débora Dummer Meira is a CNPq DTI-A scholarship holder (Industrial Technological Development Scholarship A).
At UFES, Dr. Débora teaches the disciplines of Genetics for undergraduate students in Medicine and Nursing and Basic and Clinical Oncology (Multiprofessional) for students of the Graduate Courses in Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biological Sciences and Nutrition. Furthermore, Professor Débora Dummer Meira is a permanent advisor of the Graduate Program in Biotechnology at UFES (PPGBIOTEC) and member of the Collegiate of Pharmacy and Collegiate of Biological Sciences EAD/UFES.
Dra. Meira was part of the Permanent Committee of Teaching Personnel (CPPD) at UFES and member of the Collegiate of Nursing at UFES.
Prof. Dr. Débora Dummer Meira coordinates the Integrated Academic League of Genetics and Genomics of Espírito Santo (LAIGGES) and was a reviewer of the Research Ethics Committee (CEP), having carried out more than 120 technical-scientific reports in various areas of knowledge related to Teaching Centers sent to CEP de Goiabeiras (CCE, CCHN, CCJE, CEFD, CE, CT).
Dra. Meira works as a Reviewer for the journals: Cancer Medicine, Genes, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Diagnostics, Genetics and Molecular Research, British Journal of Cancer Research, International Journal of Cancer, Industrial Crops and Products, Letters in Applied Microbiology, Journal of Advances in Biology Biotechnology, Infarme Scielo, Agriculture and Natural Resources and Journal of Applied Microbiology and is part of the editorial board of: 1.Journal of Research in Pharmacy; 2.Journal of Translational Biotechnology; 3.Journal "Frontiers in Genetics".
