She obtained her Ph.D. in Parasitology and Microbiology in 2014 from the Complutense University of Madrid with the qualification of cum laude. She is currently teaching and researching at Pablo CEU University. She started in 2009 as a Research and Teaching Fellow, moving in 2013 to Instructor, and in 2015 to Assistant Professor, and 2017 she was promoted to Adjunct Professor (an internal category for professors at San Pablo University) of Parasitology. ANECA currently accredits her as a Contracted Ph.D. Professor.
She began her research stage in the last two years of her undergraduate studies in Pharmacy, collaborating as an internal undergraduate student in the Parasitology laboratory of the USPCEU until her graduation. She then continued her doctoral studies thanks to granting two scholarships, one from the USPCEU that allowed her to carry out the corresponding research and which she renounced after granting an FPU scholarship from the Ministry of Education. Although her doctoral thesis dealt with different aspects of Free-living Amoebae and their involvement in human health, she actively participates in other research lines related to opportunistic parasites, such as Cryptosporidium or microsporidia. As a result of these works, she has 29 scientific publications in journals collected in the Journal Citation Reports (WOS), 26 of them in the first quartile of their corresponding categories, thanks to which she has been recognized for two six-year periods of research (periods 2010-2015 and 2016-2021). In addition, she actively reviews articles for indexed journals and has been one of the Academic Editors of the journal Veterinary Sciences in the special issue Epidemiology of Wildlife Infectious Diseases. She is an Academic Editor of Animals in the special issue The Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Prevention of Infectious Diseases in Wildlife.
Regarding the dissemination of the results of the research activity, she has participated in numerous national and international congresses, presenting 100 works both in poster format and oral communications. In addition, she was the Secretary of the last Spanish Society of Parasitology congress held at the USPCEU in July 2022.
She has also participated continuously, since 2010, in various Research Projects obtained in competitive public calls (FIS), National Plan, and Intramural Projects of the San Pablo CEU University
She also has extensive international experience thanks to two predoctoral stays of 3 months each at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta (USA) and a 4-month postdoctoral stay at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she trained in different proteomics techniques.
The section of Teaching Activity has more than 2000 hours of classes taught with evaluations by students with grades higher than 8.5 on average (on a scale of 10). It is important to highlight the wide variety of subjects (14 subjects) related to her area of knowledge that she has taught or teaches in English and Spanish in different degrees: Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Biotechnology, Human Nutrition, and Dietetics and Optics, Optometry and hearing Aids. Deeply interested in teaching innovation, she has participated in numerous projects, presented papers in this field, and won several awards. She has directed 29 Final degree projects and is currently directing a Doctoral Thesis.
Regarding the management field, since 2017, she has been the head of the Research Support Service (SAI) of the Parasitological Analysis of the USPCEU.
Likewise, her concern for technology and digitalization led her to join CEU’s Digital Transformation Ambassadors in 2018 to facilitate acquiring new digital skills for colleagues, students, and administrative staff. She has also been Head of Operations, Planning, and Innovation of the CEU Digital Tech Area of the CEU San Pablo University Foundation (2021/2022).
