Biography
I am a Professor of Cell Biology in Jaén University School of Sciences (Spain). I have received my PhD with special award in 1994 from the University of Granada, Spain. I have joined the Jaén University School of Sciences faculty as an assistant professor of cell biology from 1995 to 1999, and was appointed Professor of Cell Biology in 1999. My lab research in the field of inflammation and tolerance on two areas: (1) In vitro evaluation the immunotoxic ability of the peptidic fragments derived from gluten); and (2) the role of tolerance molecules in inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease. In the last years she carrying out the research on HLA-G and monitored immunosuppression in heart transplantation. The relevance of the tolerogenic molecules (HLA-G, IDO) in human physiological and pathological contexts has been the center of her intense investigation. I have published over 60 scientific papers and invited reviews and book chapters. Currently serves on the Editorial Board of World Journal of Gastroenterology, Trends in applied sciences Research, Journal of trypthophan Research and as a member of the national and international research public Committees, that evaluate research projects. I have presented invited talks at international and national meetings as International conference of HLA-G, Congress of Immunology, and Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition between others. I have been a visiting professor in the Developmental Gastroenterology Laboratory in Massachusetts and in Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy, Medical University of South Carolina and in the Service de Recherches en Hemato-Immunologie, in Hospital Saint-Louis, Paris.
