Biography

Chair of Computer Science and Mathematics | Researcher in AI, Language, Education, and Health Promotion

I explore the intersection of language and artificial intelligence to advance education, health literacy, and public health. My current research includes work in nephrology, where I examine how digital tools and AI can enhance patient literacy, support informed decision-making around kidney replacement therapy, and improve access to transplant information to reduce disparities in care.

As an educator, I’m passionate about student empowerment through authentic learning experiences. I design inclusive, interdisciplinary courses and frequently use Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) to involve students in real-world research from the ground up.

"As a methodologist and collaborator, I support interdisciplinary teams in integrating computational approaches—especially natural language processing and AI—into research on education, health equity, and community engagement. Drawing on experience with action research and participatory methods, I’m particularly interested in how language, technology, and design can make complex information more accessible and actionable for diverse populations."

My work spans curriculum design, participatory research, and the development of AI-powered tools for teaching, learning, and patient communication.
