Biography
Juliana Azevedo Gomes holds a PhD in Didactics and Educational Organization from the University of Barcelona, a Master's in Didactic Research, Teacher Training, and Educational Evaluation, and a specialization in Psychopedagogy. She is also a graduate in Pedagogy from the Pontificia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). She is a professor in teacher training programs at both the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) and the International University of Valencia (VIU). Dr. Azevedo Gomes is a researcher in the EDUCACCIÓN research group at UNIR and Principal Investigator of the INNOVATIC research group at the International University of Valencia, where she focuses on exploring the potential of digital technologies for enhancing learning. She also supervises doctoral theses at the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana in Mexico (UNINI). In 2023, she was accredited by ANECA as a Professor Hired Doctor and Private University Professor, receiving a six-year research period. She is one of the founders and the coordinator of the Elo de Educadores de Português como Língua de Herência, which organizes specialized training activities in the field of Portuguese as a heritage language. Additionally, she is a member of the Observatório de Português Língua Estrangeira e Segunda Língua at the Universidade Federal da Bahia (Brazil). She serves as an educational consultant for the Poikilingo app, which is designed for bilingual children with a hybrid cultural background, such as children of immigrants and/or refugees. Dr. Azevedo Gomes is currently conducting postdoctoral studies at the Universidade de Aveiro (Portugal).
Her research interests focus particularly on the transfer of learning from digital environments and resources in both formal and informal education contexts. She has supervised five PhD theses and more than thirty MSc dissertations across various teacher education programs. She has participated in three PhD thesis defenses and over fifteen MSc defenses. Furthermore, she has lectured on curricular units related to teacher education and continues to pursue her passion for researching digital learning environments.
