Biography

En la actualidad soy Profesor Titular en el Área de Estadística e Investigación Operativa en la Facultad de Comercio y Turismo de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, y Director del Departamento de Economía Financiera y Actuarial y Estadística en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Estoy acreditado por la ANECA (Comisión 0-Interdisciplinar) para el cuerpo de Catedráticos de Universidad.

Anteriormente trabajé en otras universidades: por ejemplo, en la Universidad de Salamanca (como Profesor Visitante, en el año 2007) o en la Exeter University (Reino Unido, como Lecturer y Senior Lecturer, del 2002 al 2006), para un total de 5 quinquenios docentes reconocidos. Siempre he tenido resultados muy positivos de mi labor docente. En mi última evaluación (periodo de 3 cursos 2020-21 a 2022-23) he sido evaluado como EXCELENTE dentro del Programa Docentia-UCM.

Tengo 3 tramos de investigación (sexenios) concedidos: 2 en el Campo 1 (Matemáticas y Física) y el tercero (en vigor) en el Campo 8 (Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales). Mi trayectoria investigadora incluye 26 artículos publicados en revistas con índice de impacto (JCR: Journal Citation Reports): 17 en el primer cuartil Q1 (de ellos 12 en el primer decil D1) y 7 en el segundo cuartil Q2. Mis áreas de investigación son la aplicación de modelos estadísticos (principalmente Análisis Multivariante y Machine Learning) a diferentes campos: Economía, Empresa, Turismo, Educación o Medicina, entre otros. Soy el director del Grupo de Investigación UCM "Métodos Estadísticos y Big Data aplicados a la Economía, el Turismo y otras Ciencias Sociales" y he sido Investigador Principal del Proyecto del Plan Nacional (Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación): "Determinantes del rendimiento académico y abandono en la educación superior: análisis del impacto de uso de plataformas educativas y redes sociales" (del 2021 al 2024).

He desempeñado diferentes puestos de gestión en el ámbito universitario: Secretario Académico y Vicedecano de Posgrado e Investigación de la Facultad de Comercio y Turismo, y Secretario Académico y Director del Departamento de Estadística e Investigación Operativa II de la UCM. También he sido Secretario de la Comisión de Ciencias, en la Dirección de Evaluación y Acreditación de la Agencia para la Calidad Científica y Universitaria de Andalucía.

Además de mi trayectoria en el sistema universitario, también tengo experiencia laboral en empresas de investigación de mercados.
