Biography

Full Professor at FPCEUP, Portugal, she is a full member of CIIE, member of its Scientifc Board and co-chairing CIIE’s group “Identity, Democracy, School, Administration and Training” (IDEAFor). Currently, she serves as Director of the Master Degree in Education of FPCEUP. Until recently, she was a member of the Ethics Committee, coordinator of the Observatory of Life in Schools and deputy coordinator of the Office of Continuing Education at the same faculty. Her research interests include teacher education, school education, socio-critical studies, ethics and justice in school education, childhood education, social and educative transformation. She acts as a researcher and member of the Scientific Board of the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE). In last decades, she has conducted research and published more than two hundred works on professions, training, and school education, nationally and internationally, and she has coordinated various Master’s courses in the field of teacher education and school education. Since 1993, she has been involved in several national and international research projects and networks, both national and international, regarding school education, mainly teacher education. She has been acting as reviewer to international funding schemes (as Horizon 2020 of European Commission). She has been consultant and reviewer for the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Brazil. She was Visiting Professor at several Universities in Brazil (Faculty of Education of the University of São Paulo, School of Arts and Humanities of the Unisinos University, Rio de Janeiro State University, UNESP).
