Biography

Emilia Botello received her PhD degree in Natural Sciences (Biology -Genetics-) from the University of Extremadura, Spain, in 1994. She is currently Assistant Professor (permanent position) of Genetics in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Genetics, at University of Extremadura. Her main research interests are bacterial cell cycle, bacterial chromosome and plasmid replication, bacterial physiology and antibiotic resistances, genetic engineering and bioinformatics. Her technical skill includes bacterial cell culture, molecular biology methods (DNA isolation, DNA electrophoresis, restriction enzyme digestion, PCR, qPCR, DNA hybridization, DNA cloning, DNA fingerprint, among others), mutagenesis, phenotypic characterization and flow cytometry. She collaborates with Elsevier and Springer editorials as a peer reviewer. She is involved in different projects as a scientific communicator, such as Summer Scientific Campus (FECYT-Spain).
