Alexandros Yeratziotis

Biography

I am a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the SEIT Laboratory, Dept. of Computer Science at the University of Cyprus and co-founder of the social SME Connect Deaf that offers accessible communication and educational mobile apps for users who are deaf.

At SEIT we have and are participating in many national and international research projects. my responsibilities in projects include: project management and coordination; scientific management and contribution; financial reporting; networking; preparation of research project proposals; authoring and co-authoring of research papers; applying research and HCI methods to collect/analyse qualitative and quantitative data; being self-learning; participate in training to improve skills and knowledge.

The topic of my post-doctoral research project at the Cyprus University of Technology was titled Usability and User Experience User Interface Design Heuristics for Deaf Users and was funded by the National Research Foundation of South Africa (NRF).

I received my doctorate from the School of Information and Communication Technology at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU), which was co-funded by the NMMU, South Africa – Finland Knowledge Partnership on ICT (SAFIPA) and the German Academic Exchange Service/Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Dienst (DAAD/NRF).

In academia, I have held various positions throughout my working experience at multiple universities. In Cyprus, these universities include the University of Cyprus, Cyprus University of Technology, Open University of Cyprus and MKC City College. Abroad, I have held positions at the Nelson Mandela University, University of South Africa and at the CTI Education Group. Regarding the positions held at the aforementioned institutions, these include: lecturer; special scientist; researcher, supervisor/co-supervisor; research associate; research fellow; content writer. Greek and English are both first languages for me and I have lecturing experience in both these languages.

I have published papers in the field of HCI and have served as a reviewer in well-known journals. My research interests are: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), user experience (UX), accessible computing, user-centered design and usability inspection methods.
