Biography

I’m a professor in the Department of Health and Environmental Science, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, interested in animal communication, community ecology, plant-animal interactions and conservation. Most of my work has been conducted on vocal communication in birds, with a large percentage of that in Sri Lanka. However, I've also studied chemical communication in bees, and I've worked in other countries, including the U.S., India, Papua New Guinea and China. I’m especially interested in teaching, and education projects that disseminate knowledge about animals and their conservation and promote exchange between scientists in different countries.
