Biography

Dr Soler graduated in Economics and Business Administration from the Universitat de València, he holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial Economics and a PhD in Economics from the Universitat de València. He worked as a research technician at the Ivie from 1996 to 2019 and is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Economics at the Universitat de València. His main fields of research are the economics of education, human development and the labor market, subjects on which he has published 84 books and book chapters, as well as 12 articles in national and international journals. He has participated in more than 95 research projects and is co-author of the database Human Capital Series for Spain, its Regions and Provinces, which has been the main focus of collaboration with the Bancaja Foundation for more than twenty years. He has dedicated an important part of his professional career to the design and construction of the Human Development Index (HDI) for the Spanish regions, a very relevant topic for many important institutions such as the United Nations. In addition, he has participated in international projects such as EUKLEMS and SPINTAN. He is currently the International Mobility Coordinator of the Faculty of Economics at the Universitat de València and collaborating professor of the Chair for a Sustainable Economic Model of València and its Surroundings (MESVAL) sponsored by València City Council since its creation in 2017. He was awarded by the Faculty of Economics with the IV Premi d'Igualtat in 2017, and was part of the team that developed the study "El Desarrollo del Arco Mediterráneo Español. Trajectory and perspectives", which received the VIII Premi Societat Catalana d'Economia in 2010.
