Biography

Radu Rădescu was born in Sighişoara (Mureş county, ROU), where he followed high school. In 1988, he graduated from the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (PUB), in the department of Applied Electronics. After October 1988 - April 1990, while working as an engineer at the Peripherals Enterprise in Bucharest, he was employed by competition as an assistant in the Applied Electronics and Information Engineering Department from PUB. In 1996, he became a lecturer and in 1999, associated professor in the same department. In 1992, he enrolled as a member of IEEE Information Theory Society. He obtained his Ph.D. in electronics in 1998, under the guidance of late professor Adrian Traian Murgan, with his "Contributions to the development of code theory". He taught, over the 23 years of didactic experience, subjects as Information Transmission Theory, Detection and Estimation in Signal Processing, Digital Broadcasting of Information, Computer Systems Architecture, Peripherals, Peripherals for Medical Devices, Multimedia Equipment and Technology, Management Activities Support (e-activities). He conducted training courses at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany (November 1997) and at the Faculty of Physical Chemistry and Electronics of Lyon, France (December 1999 - May 2000 and September 2001 - February 2002, specializing in e-learning). He elaborated 13 books and manuals, 15 guidance and practical platforms, 7 new disciplines of study, and over 150 articles and papers published in scientific journals or presented at national and international conferences. He was responsible for 10 national and international projects, contributing to 15 other research contracts, including 7 grants awarded by the Romanian Academy (1995-1997), National Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation (2000-2001) and National Scientific Research Council in Higher Education (2004-2006). Holding patent for the e-learning platform Easy-Learning (2010), he participated in a program of cooperation with the Federal Polytechnic School in Lausanne, Switzerland (1993-1995). He sustained scientific lectures at Södertörns University of Stockholm, Sweden (November 2004) and at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy (July 2006), during European Socrates-Erasmus programs. Between 2001 and 2003, he recorded 15 conferences for the "University Radio" program on Romania Cultural Radio Channel. In 2006, he was awarded the Creativity Prize, powered by the SIVECO Company, for his contribution to the fourth edition of the National Conference on Virtual Learning (NCVL 2006), organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Bucharest. In 2015, he was awarded the Diploma for contribution of scientific articles published in the Proceedings of International Conference on Virtual Learning (ICVL).
