Biography

Dr. Lori Lioce serves as the Executive Director of the Learning & Technology Resource Center and as a Clinical Professor at The University of Alabama in Huntsville. She graduated from The University of Alabama in Huntsville with her BSN (1998), MSN (2003), FNP Certificate in (2006) and earned her DNP from Samford University (2010). Her clinical background is concentrated in emergency medicine and her research interests include simulation education and operations, healthcare policy, advocacy and ethics.
Dr. Lioce is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and served as the President of the Nurse Practitioner Alliance of Alabama and was the Alabama State Representative to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American College of Nurse Practitioners. Locally, she served as the Alabama State Nurses Association (ASNA) Vice-President of the Board of Directors, state delegate to the American Nurses Association (ANA), and on multiple committees including Government Affairs and the Advanced Practice Council.
Lori has been a member of the American Nurses Association since 1997 with sustained history of service in multiple positions as the Chair and Vice-Chair of the PAC Board of Trustees, the Editorial Advisory Board for The American Nurse, the ANA Code of Ethics Revision Steering Committee, the Congress on Nursing Practice and Economics, as the ANA’s representative to the AACN’s Competency-Based Education for Doctoral Prepared APRNs Work Group and as a member of the ANA-PAC Leadership Society.
She has received numerous awards such as the Living Legacy Award from Samford University, the Alabama Lamplighter Award from the Alabama League for Nursing Alabama, the Nurse Practitioner Advocacy Excellence award from American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP); Health and Human Services Award from the Women’s Economic Development Council and recently completed the National League for Nursing's LEAD Program. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Not One More Alabama, SimGHOSTS, The Heart of the Valley YMCA and Huntsville Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees.
