ORCID was founded by and for the research community, with the goal of enabling transparent and trustworthy connections between researchers, their contributions, and affiliations. We operate on a global scale, with our consortia as partners, to build regional and national communities of practice that promote adoption and trusted use of ORCID in research systems.
Most of our consortia are national organizations. In the United States, there are four regional ORCID consortia, all led by academic library alliances: the Big Ten Academic Alliance (previously CIC), the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA), LYRASIS, and NorthEast Research Libraries (NERL).
We are excited that these four organizations have formed a partnership - the ORCID US Community consortium - to support ORCID adoption and use in the US. This follows their shared vision of national-scale open scholarly infrastructure. The partnership, led by LYRASIS, will collectively fund a dedicated community manager, who will be charged with engaging the consortium members and supporting the adoption and full implementation of ORCID services at member institutions. The manager will be working closely with ORCID’s North America staff, including myself.
All US research institutions are welcome to participate.
