Biography

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine (Badajoz). Speciality in Neurology at the University Hospital “Infanta Cristina” (Badajoz). I have an additional expertise in Cerebrovascular Diseases. Doctor in Medicine with the Thesis: “Prognostic factors associated with knowledge and perception of severity of cerebrovascular disease in the general population of Extremadura”; Extremadura University (excellent cum laudem). Diploma in Research Methodology in Health Sciences (Autonomous University of Barcelona). Master Degree in Methodology and Statistics in Health Sciences (Autonomous University of Barcelona). Master's Degree in Health Management and Administration (UNIR). I am Professor of Neurology, Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Extremadura.
I have been president of the Extremadura Neurology Society, member of the Executive Committee of the Spanish Foundation for Neurological Diseases and Member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Neurology, with functions of Teaching and Continuing Education. I have been President of the Accreditation Committee of the Spanish Society of Neurology. I have been Director of Scientific area of the Spanish Society of Neurology and member of the Ad-hoc Committee of Translational Research of the Spanish Society of Neurology. I am a member of the Council of Cardiovascular Disease Advisory Council of Extremadura and representative of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura in the Institutional Committee of the Strategy in the National Health System of the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality. I have received four regional health research grants such as IP. I have enjoyed a research intensification grant from the Extremadura Health Service. I am the author (see the publications section on the website) of several articles in international journals of neurology and behavioral neurology and author of several book chapters.
