Biography

Dr. Shiddamallayya N has completed his M.Sc., B.Ed., M.Phil., and Ph.D in Botany from Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, Karnataka.

He is working as Research Officer (Botany) in Medicinal Plant Research (MPR) Section, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, GoI. Presently he is assigned as Nodal Officer in MPR section to monitor the Medicinal Plant Research projects and activities in 18 peripheral Institutes of the CCRAS involved in various disciplines like Medico Ethno-Botanical Survey, Pharmacognosy, Demonstrative Gardens and cultivation, Invitro propagation techniques, Microbiology under Intra mural research (IMR) projects and collaborative projects.

He is the Life Member to Botany dept. Alumni Association, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, Karnataka. He has served at CARI Bengaluru and RARI Itanagar. He conducted various Medico Ethno-Botanical survey tours in the forest areas of different states viz. Karnataka, Sikkim, Tripura, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and collected plant material and herbarium and Museum specimens. He has organized various short-term trainings in Ethno-Botanical Survey, Documentation and validation of Local Health Traditions (LHTs) & Ethno-Medical Practices (EMPs), Survey of medicinal plants, Identification of plants and plant material, Herbarium preparation and Management of Herbarium & Museum management to researcher and academicians.

He has successfully completed 05 IMR and 01EMR and presently as Co-I in 03 IMR and 09 IMR collaborative projects. He is interested in inter disciplinary and collaborative research in ASU&H medicinal plants.

He has mentored 02 researchers for Ph. D degree in Botany, Mysore University, Karnataka.

Dr. Shiddamallayya has published more than 70 research articles and 10 Books, Book Chapters and Monographs. He is a member of Editorial Board & Reviewer of some indexed journals.
