Biography

My name is Ricardo Solar and I’m a Professor of Ecology, at Universidade Federal Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

My main research goal is to understand major causes and consequences of biodiversity dynamics in natural and human-modified habitats. I am interested in the understanding of ecosystems’ diversity and functioning over multiple spatial scales. I am also curious about how chronic and acute human-impacts affect dynamics of resistance/resilience of biodiversity. At the moment, I have been working on the effects of land use changes on tropical biotas.
