Biography

Hold Ph.D. in Chemistry issued by Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS – Porto Alegre, Brazil) with sandwich period at The University of Manchester (UK), Master in Chemistry issued by Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS – Porto Alegre, Brazil) and Chemistry degree issued by Regional Integrated University of Alto Uruguai e das Missões (URI – Santo Ângelo, Brazil). Held a Post-doc Position at Graphene and Nanomaterials Research Centre – (Mackgraphe -São Paulo, Brazil). During those years studying chemistry, I gained experience in materials science and advanced materials (2D and nanomaterials), meanly with polymers, photochemistry, surface science, synchrotron radiation, x-ray spectroscopy (FTIR, Fluorescence, XANES, NEXAFS and XPS), mass spectrometry, and biotechnology field. Currently is a professor (with tenure) at Federal University of Rio Grande [FURG], leader of the research group in Photochemistry and Materials Chemistry (FQMAT), and permanent advisor of Post-Graduation Program in Environmental and Technological Chemistry (PPGQTA). Research topics are based on advanced materials, surface science, physical chemistry, and photochemistry. Recent projects involve: i) polymeric materials degradation and sustainability; ii) photochemistry applied to synthesis, modification, processing, and degradation of materials and compounds; iii) electromagnetic radiation and matter interaction; iv) surface engineering for technological application and v) study of polymeric solid waste (microplastics) in the marine environment.
