Biography

I study the mechanisms underlying vertebrate brain development and regeneration. Together with my group I ask, for instance, how neural stem and progenitor cells give rise to and regenerate the adult brain and retina. Because zebrafish have a spectacular ability to regenerate and well developed genetics and molecular biology tools, they are particularly well-suited for these studies.
