Biography

I got my PhD in Microbiology (December 2011) at the University of Girona (Spain), where I studied the impact of different pollutants on the microbial community of Mediterranean soils, and the potential of indigenous resistant microbiota for soil restoration. I combined molecular approaches to investigate microbial community structure and diversity with measurements of microbial activity and classical microbiological techniques for physiological analysis.
Most of my research has been focused on soil microbial ecology, and recently I moved to alpine lakes and aerial plankton. I am interested in high throughput analyses to explore microbial composition and dynamics, based on cutting-edge molecular technologies and bioinformatics tools.
