Biography
Mohammad J. Abdel-Rahman completed his Ph.D. in November 2014 from the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at The University of Arizona (UA). In addition to his major in ECE, he also obtained a minor in operations research and mathematics. During his Ph.D., he was awarded the UA College of Engineering Outstanding Graduate Student Award. He is currently working as an Associate Professor with the Data Science Department at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) since October 2022. He is also serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the ECE Department at Virginia Tech since January 2018.
From January 2015 to September 2017, he worked as a Research Faculty Member at the ECE Department at Virginia Tech. He has been supervising Master's and Ph.D. engineering and computing sciences students at both Virginia Tech and PSUT. Between October 2017 and October 2022, he worked at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) as an Assistant and later Associate Professor with the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Departments (joint appointment). At HTU, he held various leadership positions, including the Inaugural Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department from October 2018 to March 2022 and the Director of the Wireless Networks and Security Research Laboratory from April 2019 to October 2022.
Dr. Abdel-Rahman’s research interests primarily revolve around integrating artificial intelligence and operations research in communications, networking, energy, healthcare, and transportation. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the Global Young Academy. He actively participates in the academic community as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, an Associate Editor of IEEE Access, an Associate Editor of Wireless Personal Communications (Springer Nature), and a Technical Program Committee Member of several international conferences.
