Biography
I was born in 1987 in Istanbul, Türkiye. In 2009, I graduated from Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Faculty of Fisheries. I started post-grad education in the same year and completed my PhD in 2019. Since 2013, I am working in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry under the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policy (TAGEM) as a researcher. My research areas are mainly focused on seafood processing technology, marine biochemistry and aquaculture. I had gained experience, especially in amino acids, fatty acids, and trace elements of Seafood. In recent years I focused on macroalgae culture and biochemistry. Besides this, I carried out some studies on some specific species such as smooth scallop (Flexopecten glaber) and an endemic one, Black Sea trout (Salmo labrax). This year my two research applications were granted. The first one "Biological Activity Evaluation of Macroalgae Distributed on Horseshoe Island (Antarctica) Coasts by Determining Nutrient Composition and Phytochemical Contents" entitled project is supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) with 122Y201 verification code. Within this project's scope, I will go to Antarctica in the first months of 2023 and participate in some field studies. In this study, which will be carried out for the first time on Horseshoe Island, located in the south of the Antarctic peninsula, macroalgae species will be determined and samples will be made for further analysis. The second project "Evaluation of Biochemical Composition, Feeding Ecology, Reproductive Characteristics and Spawning Techniques of Scallop Species" is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (Republic of Türkiye) and aims to get primary data on the scallop species for further aquaculture studies. With the start of my two projects as of 2022, I plan to focus my future studies on macroalgae chemistry and bivalve culture. In addition, I plan to continue my studies on macroalgae biochemistry in Antarctica.
