Biography

Sidonie Costa received her degree in Mathematics Teaching from University of Minho (UM), Portugal, in 2005, her specialization in Mathematics and Mechanical Applications in 2006 and her PhD in Polymer and Composite Science and Engineering in 2013, from the UM. During this academic path, she received two school merit awards in 2003 and 2004. Since 2010, she is an adjunct Professor in the Department of Exact Sciences of the School of Management and Technology (ESTG), Porto Polytechnic Institute (P.PORTO), Portugal, and currently an integrated member of the Center for Innovation and Research in Business Sciences and Information Systems (CIICESI), ESTG, P.PORTO. Her experience includes the mathematical modeling of engineering problems, particularly in the area of rapid prototyping, as evidenced by several international conference participations and publications in this area (15 presentations at international scientific conferences, 7 papers in indexed journals, 4 book chapters and 5 proceedings papers). In parallel and more recently, she created a pedagogical project named “b-Mat@plicada” at ESTG, which is a b-Learning course consisting of several educational videos on mathematical topics to assist students in their study. This project led to the development of research studies on the impact of the video use in Higher Education (5 presentations at international scientific conferences, 4 papers in indexed journals and 2 proceedings papers).
