Biography
Ana Lúcia S. Rodrigues received a Master of Science in Biochemistry from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in 1987. She then joined as a Biochemistry lecturer at Universidade Estadual de Maringá, Paraná, Brazil in 1989 and pursued her PhD studies in Biochemistry at the Federal University of Paraná, Curitiba, Brazil, having completed her PhD in 1996. She joined the Department of Biochemistry of Center of Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis, Brazil in 1992 as an Assistant Professor. Currently she is a Full Professor at UFSC and receives productivity in research fellowship (level 1A) from the Brazilian National Research and Development Council (CNPq). Her research interests focus on investigating the mechanisms underlying the effects of several therapeutic strategies (such as agmatine, creatine, zinc, guanosine, ascorbic acid, vitamin D, ketamine, and physical activity) for major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders, characterizing neurobehavioral and neurochemical alterations relevant to these psychiatric disorders. She has published over 240 peer-reviewed articles and 14 book chapters and has a H-index of 68 (Google Scholar) and 58 (Scopus). In 2020, she was nominated by the Open Box of Science platform (http://www.openciencia.com.br/) as one of the 50 leading researchers of Science in Brazil in the area of Biological Sciences.
