Biography
I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology and a member of the Research Group “Promoting Employment and Welfare in Europe” (PROMEBI) at the University of Oviedo, Spain. My research explores the interplay between institutions, culture, and individual agency, and how these dynamics shape social practices and processes such as the medicalisation of society or suicide. My PhD thesis, titled “A matter of context: Cultural and institutional influences on healthcare seeking for mental distress in Lithuania and Spain”, received recognition with the Extraordinary Doctoral Award and International Mention.
As a member of the Research Group PROMEBI, I have participated in various competitive research projects, leading to multiple peer-reviewed publications. My scholarly output encompasses book chapters in edited volumes published by reputable academic publishers such as Routledge, along with academic articles in indexed journals of recognized prestige like Social Science and Medicine, Sociology of Health and Illness, Social Policy and Society, European Societies, and European Journal of Social Theory, among others.
