Biography
After my MD in pharmacology from Christian Medical College, Vellore, I joined Lotus Labs Bangalore as a clinical investigator for Bioequivalence studies. While in lotus labs, I developed keen interest in clinical pharmacokinetic studies and phase I clinical trials. Therefore I joined Tata Memorial Hospital in 2006 as a clinical research coordinator of the INDO-Oxford (INDOX) Cancer Trials Network where I was trained in the design and conduct of phase I clinical trials. During this time I also obtained the post graduate diploma in clinical trials from the London School of Hygeine and Tropical Medicine, University of London. I started the department of clinical pharmacology at ACTREC, Tata Memorial Centre in July 2008.
My research interests include early clinical development and pharmacokinetics driven optimization of drugs. My department is focusing on optimizing the dose of drugs through PK/PD modeling. I am also interested in developing strategies for therapeutic drug monitoring of antifungals and imunosupressants used in bone marrow transplantation. I have been an investigator in several phase I clinical trials of investigational new drugs. In addition I am also involved in investigator initiated early clinical development of herbal drugs for various indications in cancer. My lab also undertakes preclinical safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetic evaluation of drugs and novel formulations.
