Biography

Prof. Dr. Ivan Božić is the Head of the Laboratory for Research, Development, Testing and Optimization of Hydropower Plants at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Department of Hydraulic Machines and Energy Systems).
He was born in Kraljevo, where he finished elementary and secondary school. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade in 2001, where he also obtained his PhD degree in 2012.
In addition to teaching and research work in the field of hydraulic turbines, hydropower plants, numerical and experimental fluid mechanics, the application of artificial intelligence in hydropower and others, for more than twenty years he has been performing expertise consulting, analysis and revision of studies and projects in the field of hydropower, managing and participating in model and prototype tests of hydraulic turbines, development of software for optimization and analysis of transition modes in hydropower plants. He is the author of more than 70 papers in international journals and conferences, over 150 studies, reports and technical solutions that are closely related to hydropower, as well as two university textbooks.
He is the Chairperson of the Technical Committee N004 for Hydraulic Turbines at the Institute for Standardization of Serbia and a member of several societies and associations (e.g. the Association of Power Engineers of Serbia, World Energy Council, IAHR and JSME). He is a member of the Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade, and he also held the position of Assistant Director for cooperation with the industry at the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade. He is currently the Director of the Alumni Foundation of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade and a member of the Assembly of the Alumni Foundation of the University of Belgrade.
