Biography

She is Chemical Engineer from the University of Castilla-La Mancha in 2001 and she got the PhD degree at the same University in 2004. Her research activity has been developed in the Electrochemical and Environmental Engineering Laboratory, belonging to the TEQUIMA Research Group of the University of Castilla-La Mancha, and has been focused on Environmental Applications of Electrochemical Engineering. She completed pre and postdoctoral training in University of Genoa (predoctoral stage), University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (postdoctoral stage) and Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (postdoctoral stage). Initially, her research was focused on the study of wastewater treatment by electrochemical oxidation. Later, during the postdoctoral stage her research work was focused on the consolidation of research lines already existing in the research group (such as electrooxidation and electrocoagulation of industrial and / or urban wastewater) through the direction of two doctoral theses (C. Jiménez, 2011 and MJ Martín de Vidales, 2015). As senior researcher, her research interest is focused on the genesis and direction of other new lines as a result of the evolution of the research developed (electrosynthesis of oxidants of industrial interest, electrochemical disinfection of purified water, electroremediation of contaminated soils, design of new electrochemical advanced oxidation reactors) with a very relevant role in the planning and direction of the lines, and with the direction of six doctoral theses (A. Sánchez-Carretero, 2012, R. López-Vizcaíno, 2013, J.F. Pérez, 2018, I. Moraleda 2019, J. Isidro, 2020, M. Herráiz, 2021). She has participated in 4 European projects, 11 projects of the National R & D Plan (1 as PI), 7 projects with regional funding (2 as PI), 12 infrastructure projects (1 as PI) and in 17 R&D contracts (8 as PI) with private companies. In addition, it should be noted that she is co-author of more than 280 scientific publications (more than 220 Q1, h51 (Scopus)), 9 book chapters, 4 patents and more than 30 scientific technical report for companies. The scientific work that she have developed in the field of Environmental Electrochemistry was recognized with the award of the "ISE prize for Environmental Electrochemistry" in 2011 by the International Society of Electrochemistry.
Regarding teaching activity, she has 4 teaching Quinquennials (100% of possible) and she has supervised 8 doctoral theses (and 5 currently in development) and more than 50 research works (including Final Degree Projects, Master Projects,…). In addition, she has collaborated in 12 Educational Innovation Projects related to teaching innovation.
Within the management activity, she was Academic Secretary (May 2012-September 2014) and Sub-Director (December 2014-June 2016) of the Chemical Engineering Department of the UCLM. Since July 2018, she is collaborator of State Research Agency in the area of environmental sciences and technology and since November 2021 she is Editor of Chemical Engineering Journal.
